Welcome to Mrs. Delaney's class! 

ELA:  Grades 6, 7, 8

Religion:  Grades 7, 8

Homework will be listed on this page.  Homework will also be posted in the classroom.  Students are encouraged to use their planners daily to keep track of homework, long-term assignments, quizzes, tests, etc.

 

**Please make sure your child has a book, magazine or newspaper for D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read) every day.**  This is a requirement my classes.  If students do not have a book, magazine, or newspaper, they are unprepared.


**Note to parents/guardians:**  Some of the students have lost their literature books.  Unfortunately, we do not have extra class copies to hand out.  Students will have to purchase another copy from a book store.  They need to have their books every day or they are unable to participate in class or do the homework assignments.  The books are as follows:

6th grade:  The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

7th grade:  A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park

8th grade:  Inside Out and Back Again by Thanhha Lai

Write your thoughts/ideas on a sheet of paper on how/why the element of mythology that you chose fits the Cronus myth.  You will need the Cronus myth and the Elements of Mythology chart.

**Notes from class:

  • What element of mythology did you choose?
  • What is the example from the text?
  • What are your thoughts on how this fits the element of mythology that you hose?  Explain why you chose it.

Finish reading chapter 9 and writing assignment:  Choose option A or option B:

  • Option A:  Have you ever had something stolen from you?  Do you know anyone else who has?  Describe the situation and how it made you feel.  How did you deal with the theft?
  • Option B:  What is the most dangerous thing you have ever done?  Did you do it intentionally or was it unplanned?  Explain in full sentences.

Religion 7 Due 10/12:

ELA Grade 6 Homework:

  • Chapter 3 worksheet from The Lightning Thief (side marked "HW" only).

ELA Grade 7 Homework:

  • Scan through today’s news media and decide what you think are the three most important stories that everyone should know about and read.  Cut them out/print or watch the news and summarize them and bring them to class prepared to explain why you chose each one. You may email me the link at mdelaney@ourladyofvictory.org if you do not have access to a printer.
  • Vocabulary sentences for words from Chapters 3 and 4 from A Long Walk to Water (8 words).  Parents, sentences were started in class.  Four words were given on Wednesday and the remaining four were given today in class.
